A Ducati Cruiser vs a 2014 Corvette. 460 HP vs 160 HP. Interesting conclusion.

Power:weight
12.5 in a stock stingray is pretty damn quick though.

Ya the Diavel will beat most cars 99% of the time. Cars can be fast, but bikes are faster. Thats just the way it is.

Especially for a stock vehicle. Can't wait to see what the Hellcat does.

How is that an "interesting result?" Most bikes with that type of power are going to destroy cars in a straight line.

I expected it to be closer.

I expected the end to be closer.

Not too shabby.

How is it an interesting conclusion? There was no way the Corvette would have had a chance against a Ducati with a good rider. It would take a GT-R or something quicker just to keep with that bike, and it's not even one of Ducati's sport bikes.

Bikes have a HUGE power/weight advantage. The 600's I rode years ago would easily do 10.5 second 1/4's and none of them had more than ~110hp.

I have a "slow" motorcycle. It does 0-60 in about 5.2 seconds and finishes the 1/4 mile in about 13.5. No, seriously, it's a slow bike.

I know, thats why motorcycles are in a different category for useable speed.

Not sure why you'd expect the end to be closer. That bike has more than double the power to weight ratio. The Corvette should have the advantage off the line because it has vastly more rubber, but the gap will only widen from there.

Bikes are faster to a point certainly - at very high speeds their poor aerodynamics will tell - but they don't do as well in 0-100-0 tests as they're baking ability isn't as good.

Rough numbers but Corvette has 0.14hp/lbs and the Ducati has 0.34hp/lbs. That is the story right there.

All true thats why I specified in a follow up comment that 'useable speed' is better on a bike. Good luck hitting 200mph on one but then again there aren't many cars that can do that and those that can are totting quite the price tag.

A well-ridden modern sport bike with ABS can stop as well as a well driven modern sports car with ABS... HOWEVER, there is much more involved in getting the shortest stopping distance possible out of a bike due to the importance of weight transfer, and ABS is extremely beneficial in bikes with powerful brakes, and inexperienced riders.

I really have learned to dislike these overproduced/staged shows and videos of drag races. Taking multiple shots and passes of each vehicle from other vehicles on track at the same time and splicing it all together to arrive at some preconceived conclusion sucks. Their times are correct, but just give me one shot of the actual race from beginning to end.

Agreed. Also, give me the entire time slips, or at least the trap speeds, so that I can gain a little more knowledge than the basic "This one is faster!"
